About Me

I am a “domestic engineer” as they called it in the late ’70s when my mom stayed at home with me. Call me housewife, call me stay-at-home mom, call me tired.

Bruschetta Burgers

Jul 21st, 2007 by CEO | 0

I’m not trying to perfectly replicate this Tyler Florence specialty served at Applebee’s. I just want to recreate the flavors so I don’t have to spend 8 bucks for this burger served on foccacia bread topped with mozzarella, bruschetta and pesto. My attempt at bread machine foccacia was a miserable disaster, so I brushed some pizza crust [...]

Poached Salmon with Cucumber-Dill Sauce

Jul 21st, 2007 by CEO | 0

South Beach Diet Phase 1. This was my first time poaching anything, which was quite easy despite how intimidating it seemed, and so pretty with everything floating about in the pan. However, the ingredients required for the poaching didn’t seem to add much flavor to the fish. The cucumber-dill sauce was tasty and refreshing and [...]

Boston Lettuce and Pecan Salad

Jul 21st, 2007 by CEO | 0

To expand on my first point, which I know isn’t always realistic, there WILL be meltdowns [...]

I am currently infatuated with the combination of tomato and fresh basil. There is nothing like it. You can eat it with anything: bread, meat, pasta. I like grape tomatoes; they are so easy to cut, and romas. I even bought a basil plant to grow in my windowsill instead of buying those pricey little [...]

Summer Bummer

Jul 21st, 2007 by CEO | 0

What a bummer! I checked out three books from the library before going on vacation, none of which were on my list of books I want to read. Even after investing several chapters of reading, I decided to return them without needing to know how they ended.
Thirty Nothing by Lisa Jewell
Thirty Nothing was well-written with [...]

Puke in Perspective

Jul 7th, 2007 by CEO | 0

Our little Alexis was diagnosed with acid reflux at 4 months old. Her doctor prescribed Prevacid, which she has taken daily since then. Searching online one day, I came across momswearingpuke.com. The site has a forum for everything related to reflux and other childhood diseases. As I read, I noticed that the moms signed their [...]
