More Than Noodles
Although I am a southern girl, I don’t know how to make fried chicken. My daddy often comments on the “gourmet” food I serve. It’s not all that fancy. It’s just different than the pot roast, rice and gravy I grew up on.
Some foods are considered my favorites because of the traditions they represent or memories associated with them, such as my mom’s peanut butter balls or her oatmeal cake with peanut butter icing, my grandmother’s biscuits and my aunt’s macaroni and cheese. Then there’s funnel cake and Danish wedding cookies. No special memories there, I just really like the way they taste.
My cooking adventures have taken an interesting turn lately since my husband has been dieting. He has lost 30+ pounds thanks to the South Beach Diet. Many of the recipes on this site will be South Beach friendly. Home sweet homemaker that I am, I am trying to support his efforts even though I am not dieting. After all, I do love my husband more than noodles.
